Backup protected DVDs
Ripping CD's is increasingly difficult because of the protection that manufacturers place on the disks.
Now however, there are some programs strong enough to break that protection such as RipIt4Me. These encryption methods cannot be dealt with by most major DVD rippers and burners because they employ such encryption as ARccOS and RipGuard DVD techniques that totally immobilise programs such as DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter. RipIt4Me is an incredibly powerful ripper which can handle just about any encryption. Of course, it should only be used for non commercial use - such as your own personal backups of your own commercial discs. The program is very simple to use with a "One Click" wizard to take you through the very simple ripping procedure which consists of little more than inserting a disc, browsing to a save location, and off you go. In it's latest incarnation, the program now has an automatic updater and an encryption decoder which detects whether the DVD appears to be protected or not. You'll see this displayed in the main window during the first step of the wizard.
This is a remarkably powerful ripping tool that can rip just about any copyrighted DVD (although not all) but only use it for your own backups.

Be prepared for ads, toolbars and unclear instructions!.
FULL OF ADS, TOOLBARS and other garbage. Tried to use it and it was very unclear on how to get started. First thing that happens is it asked to define a destination for the decoder or something. No instructions of any kind on even what that means. All I want is to rip a DVD to my laptop so I don't have to tote around the actual DVD. Why all the complicated junk going along with it? More

Does what I want it to do, plain and simple..
No - not fancy. In fact, kind of a throwback. Do I care? Not one bit, because it works! I buy DVDs, rip them, then compress to mkv format to stream to my TV. Now I can watch any movie in my collection by selecting it from a TV menu. Sweet! More

Download/Update links all FAIL.
Every time I start the program, I get a message telling me that need to update the decoder and then another message "no update available". My best guess is that the installer went wrong because I didn't know how to point it to the correct "decoder" to begin with. You need to fix that too, need the popup message for decoder path needed to give better instruction. Well, what can I say? It turns out that the dvdfab program does everything without ripit4me. It's truly amazing how they've cracked this copy DVD gig.

Cannot find path to DVD decoder.
EXE Installer: I need to give path to DVD Decoder. Exactly what is the installer looking for? You need to modify this popup window to give better instructions/direction...

No FixVTS response to Litetouch44.
Try Log/Settings -> Preferences.
Check the Advanced options and Cleanup VOB settings.
You can also set the pathes to the "executables". I believe you are referring to DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink.
Pros:
Greatly simplfies the process of making backups. Backups are essential when you have children.
Cons:
Doesn't have a "Pause" button. When Cleaning VOB's the disk I/O is horrendous if you're trying to do anything else at the same time. More
